WordPress Web Publishing

I’m loving the web publishing software called WordPress.  WordPress stores your website content in a database but let’s you pick different designs for the look & feel. There is a difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

The .com site is the commercial site and is mainly for blogging.  It’s free for a basic blog site. You can upgrade for $99 so that you don’t have ads, can change the design, etc.  I don’t recommend the .com version for websites, it’s fine if you need is only blogging.

The .org site is from the organization that created WordPress blogging software.  It’s an easy to use web publishing tool that has grown beyond the blog-only version.  I like that you can structure a great looking website, with a blog component, if you desire.  Or leave the blog part off and use other features that you might be looking for.

WordPress is made up of:

  • Easy to use word processing editor for creating webpages
  • Easy to install website designs for creating a great look
  • Easy to find useful plug-ins for common features such as social share buttons, etc.
  • Hosting solutions for around $5/month

Contact me if you have questions and want to learn more about WordPress!

Here’s a list of clients I have worked with to create Word Press sites in the past year:

P.S.  I recommend HostGator for your hosting solution and WooThemes for Word Press themes.
