Environmentally Friendly Cartridges

Posted on 20. Oct, 2013 by in Create

circut001Just bought my first Cricut cartridge that came in ProvoCraft’s new packaging. Love their effort to use smaller packaging!

Normally, each cartridge comes with a box that is twice this size.  It’s taller to accommodate the overlay that you use to lay on the cricut machine to know what keys to push. In this new little square box, the overlay is not included. Again, making it more environmentally friendly.

New Cricut Cartridges

Extreme Fonts

This cartridge just came out this year. It contains 5 fonts, each has a shadow. One is very thin, I plan to use with my markers. One is for large letters and number, you might use this for wall decor.

I found it the cheapest online at http://cartridgesandmore.com/.  But do an internet search to find the best price now that more sites are selling it. Read More…

Cards on the Fly

Posted on 03. Sep, 2012 by in Create

I was searching for card ideas on YouTube the other night and came across the Cards on the Fly video that showed how to make this adorable birthday card with a pop-up cake in the middle of it. How cute is that?

It’s fairly easy to create. The tricky part is scoring the inside at the right spots. Read More…

Create a Critter

Posted on 30. Aug, 2012 by in Create

I recently signed up to receive emails from Cricut.com and I noticed that they have a “free cartridge cutting” event happening each week.  I saw in the Craft Room software last week that there was a cartridge called “Life’s a Party” and didn’t think much about it, I just knew that I didn’t own it.  But now when I log-in, it’s gone but there’s a new one this week called “Create a Critter”. They must be letting us try out the different cartridges before we purchase them. (In the cutting software you can design with all of their cartridges, but only cut with the ones that you own).

Cricut Craft Room, Part II

Posted on 26. Aug, 2012 by in Create

I’ve been trying out the new Cricut Craft Room software again. I have many Cricut products, and overall I’m happy with them.

This Craft Room software replaces their original “Design Studio Software” that was very buggy. You could make it work, but you need a training class to understand how to use it and there were quirks that needed fixed, I think they decided to start all over again! The original software was $60, and the new version is free. Seems like they wised up and realized if we have a product that works, we’ll buy the cutting machine and cartridges to go along with it.

So here’s the items I like about the new Cricut Craft Room software:

  • it’s free
  • you can login from anywhere that has an internet connection
  • you can share saved project files with friends Read More…

MyScrapNook Software

Posted on 24. Jul, 2012 by in Create

Just found this new website for editing your photos and making quick scrapbook layouts. It’s called MyScrapNook.

It was very easy to download and install. You can create using their templates or design your own. You can share online or print at home.

You can also create cards and photo collages.  Here’s a link to the MyScrapNook YouTube video.

I like that you can login using your Facebook login and the software can find photos in your Facebook and on your computer. It’s easy to share your creation too.

Watch video: Karen Burniston Sizzix Die Cuts for Cards

I recently came across this product from Sizzix for making card inserts. Such a cute and quick way to make a card insert for embellishing the inside of your cards.

You can add photos and/or embellishments for a nice sentiment for any occasion. What a quick way to make a fancy card!

This one is called “#657129” and there are several other die cuts like it for making pop-ups.  Search Sizzix site. Read More…

Handy Cricut Products

Posted on 15. Jun, 2012 by in Create

I use the 12×12 cutting system called the Cricut Expression.  It’s wonderful for cutting titles, fonts, and shapes for your scrapbook layouts.

Tip: There’s a smaller 6×12 size cutter, but I recommend the larger one.  The price difference is not very much and you’ll be glad when you can cut large cutouts such as cards, boxes, and large shapes for posters and those big 3-D projects. Read More…

  2. Start any summer homework such as reading projects, writing projects (have a notepad & pencil ready for ideas). Be sure to add due dates to your calendar.

Delicious strawberry recipe for the summer

I can remember growing up and always having this desert at every family picnic! I should be sick of it by now, but it’s a staple for any fun family outing. The kids always request it! And my fellow scrapbooking buddies!

It’s very easy to make, here’s the recipe …

Hope Loves Cards

Posted on 22. May, 2012 by in Create

I recently ordered specialized cards from the “2012 Spring Collection style of note cards” for my daughter from a fellow blogger. They are just adorable!  Britt loves purple and Kim Gosney, creator of Hope Loves Cards, created a purple selection for her when I explained Brittney was a purple lover.

Ah, I like this message!

Posted on 19. May, 2012 by in Create

As I’ve aged, I’ve become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I’ve become my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play, on the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50, 60 &70’s, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will. Read More…

Cricut Cartridge Ideas

Posted on 24. Apr, 2012 by in Create

I love to scrapbook, and I especially love cutting scrapbook accents with my Cricut machine. Have you checked out the Cricut forums for ideas?

Sometime I forget about this as a resource for ideas.  It’s great to search for a particular cartridge and get ideas.

I recently got the Tie the Knot cartridge and I wanted to get more ideas. Just flipping thru the booklet that comes with it, you get some ideas. I was curious to find out how other scrapbookers were using it.

If you go to Cricut.com, and click on Messageboard, you will go to the community. You have to login and it’s very confusing on whether it’s a separate login from the Cricut site and Cricut Rewards site. Just keep track of your id and password. Read More…

Scrapbook Expo

Posted on 09. Mar, 2012 by in Create

On March 23-24, 2012 the Memories Scrapbooking Expo will visit Columbus Ohio again. See the Coupon tab on their site to save $2 at the door. Better yet, go to LivingSocial for a $5 ticket or $7 two-day pass.

I recommend going on Friday, since it’s usually packed on Saturday. There’s been a few less vendors each year, but it’s worth the trip to see new scrapbook and stamping products. You can spend several hours walking around seeing everything, wear comfy shoes! Some vendors do presentations, others let you try their products.

New Technology Camera

Posted on 02. Mar, 2012 by in Create

A new type of camera has been invented.  It’s from Lytro. You can focus on a particular part of a photo, after it’s been taken, ie. you can change the prospective. It’s relatively inexpensive at $399, it’s just for Mac users now a Windows version is expected later this year.

Cricut Craft Room

Posted on 19. Feb, 2012 by in Create

Provo Craft has many products to go with your Cricut cutting system. I recently had trouble with my Gypsy (the gameboy looking device that you load all your cartridges onto), so I started playing with the new Craft Room software. Looks like Provo Craft has completely re-done the Cricut Design Studio software with this new software. I’ve watched the online Tutorials, and so far I like what I see … Read More…
